Palaeontologists Discover New Allosaurus Species In North America

Good News Notes:

“Paleontologists have discovered a new species of a meat-eating dinosaur, called Allosaurus jimmadseni. It is the oldest species of Allosaurus, to have existed in the Late Jurassic Period, some 157-152 million years ago. Species name ‘jimmadseni’ is honouring palaeontologist James H. Madsen Jr while the genus name, Allosaurus means ‘different reptile’.

The fossils of the dinosaur have been unveiled at the Natural History Museum of Utah and it predates one of most familiar of its species, the Allosaurus fragilis. The allosauroids were carnivorous bipedal dinosaurs that existed through the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.”
