“Most people spend Christmas in the comfort of their own home, but volunteers for Community Meals spent their day giving back.
Wednesday, dozens of volunteers gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City, to make sure hundreds of people in northern Michigan had a warm meal and some Christmas cheer.”
“We get people that come in that just don’t feel like cooking, or they want to come where they can sit with other people just to rub elbows and talk about the weather or whatever it may be,” said Russ Mehrhof a coordinator for the Community Meals event. “We want people to walk through the door and feel like this is a 5-star dining experience, we just want them to feel the love that we get by giving.”
