“Whether battling a fire, giving emergency medical assistance, or helping support a worthy cause, firefighters in North Alabama are there to help.
Regina Bodine and Jason Veres are among North Alabama volunteer firefighters who put their lives on the line to help their neighbors when 911 calls get made. Their respective fire departments are also among more than 20 from across the state who will ‘Go Pink’ in October by selling specially designed pink ribbon project T-shirts to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.
‘One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime and from what I’ve been told, one in 1,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime,’ said Capt. Jason Veres, with the Vinemont-Providence Fire Department, located just north of Cullman. ‘This group is a nonprofit that helps with breast cancer research and all of the money stays in Alabama so it’s a good thing and we’re glad to be a part of raising awareness.'”
