Born blind, high school football announcer inspires crowd, teaches lessons in perseverance

“When Christ Presbyterian Academy had an opening earlier this year, Gordon Mote was a perfect fit, thanks to a resume that Harry Carry could not have better designed himself.”

“I had done some radio back in the day,” said Mote, who was being modest by failing to mention his Academy of Country Music award and Dove Nominations. “I said oh I don’t know about football. That’s a whole different deal because it goes faster.”

“You know what’s really cool about this, there are a lot of people in the stands that, whether it’s the visiting team or some of our own people, that have no idea they’re getting information from a blind person,” said Mote, revealing his most surprising secret to anyone who hears him at the games.
